Montréal, January 19, 2016 – Over 200 violinists have applied to take part in the next edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM), up 70% from last year’s edition (Voice 2015) and the previous Violin edition in 2013. A total of 206 applications were submitted by 125 women and 81 men, with an average age of 23 years.
Candidates of the upcoming Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) have reason to rejoice! The CMIM is introducing three special prizes during the 2016 Violin edition, which brings the total prize money to $83,000!
Maestro Giancarlo Guerrero, Music Director of the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and Principal Guest Conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra Miami Residency, returns to Montreal in 2016.

Montreal, June 3, 2015 — Following ten days of intense high-level competition, the Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC) culminated this evening with the announcement of the top three prizewinners of its 2015 Voice edition. All other prizes will be announced at the official awards ceremony that will take place before the Gala Concert, on June 5.
Montreal, May 30, 2015 — The semi-finals of the Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC) came to a close tonight as the international jury selected six finalists. Following the QuarterFinal round in which 23 competitors from 9 countries competed at Salle Bourgie between May 25 and 27, twelve semi-finalists took the same stage on May 29 and 30.
Montreal, May 27, 2015 — The Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC) started on a lyrical note on Monday, May 25, as 24 young singers from nine countries were ready to take the stage at Bourgie Hall. Between May 25 and May 27, each competitor performed in a 25 to 30-minute recital, featuring the most beautiful pages of the repertoire. After a last-minute withdrawal, the international jury has selected 12 semi-finalists among 23 competitors
Montreal, May 24, 2015 — Hundreds of singers of all ages met together at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ Bourgie Hall to kick off the MIMC. The order of appearance of the 24 classical singers from 9 countries who will participate in the quarter-final round was determined by random draw earlier in the day.
Montreal, May 19, 2015 – Less than a week before it begins, the Montreal International Musical Competition (MIMC) announces the webcasting of most of its activities and welcomes a new jury member and a new competitor. And, to kick-off the Competition, which will run from May 25 to June 5, everyone is invited to sing along—adults and children alike— in a free opening event that will take place in Bourgie Hall on May 24.
