Montreal, April 4, 2017 – Applications for the next Voice edition of the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) taking place May 27 to June 7, 2018 are now open. Singers around the world born on January 1, 1983 or later are invited to apply by December 15, 2017. The online application form, as well the rules and conditions for participation and the required repertoire are all available on CMIM’s official website at concoursmontreal.ca/voice. Transportation and accommodations are offered to the candidates who are selected, in accordance with the terms of the Competition.

Montreal, Tuesday, March 28, 2017 – 2017 marks the 15th anniversary of the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal), which is dedicated to piano this year. And of course, an anniversary is a reason to celebrate! This edition of the CMIM promises to be special in every way, while also highlighting the 375th anniversary of the founding of Montreal and the 150th anniversary of Canada. Montreal, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 – 24 young pianists, 6 women and 18 men from 15 countries with an average age of 26, have been selected to participate in the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) next May 2 to 12. The highest number of candidates are from South Korea (7), followed by France (3) and Italy (3). The remaining countries are represented by one participant each: Canada, China, Germany, Hungary, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Uzbekistan.

Montréal, Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 –This spring, spread your wings, be spontaneous and let yourself be drawn by the unexpected. On April 26 at 7:30 pm, the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) presents Pianos en liberté, a piano improvisation concert at Montreal’s Museum of Fine Arts’ Bourgie Hall. This unique event will feature two world-renowned pianists, Frenchmen Jean-François Zygel and Bruno Fontaine, who will take turns in performing the improvised piano part of "Fantaisie pour piano-fantôme et orchestre” by Canadian composer François Dompierre. The soloist will not only improvise his part but will also conduct Montreal's I Musici ensemble from the keyboard. It is a musical feat that has never been done before, and Montrealers will be the first to witness this improvised world premiere!

Montréal, January 17, 2017 – Over 300 pianists have applied to take part in the next edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM), resulting in the highest number of applicants in the history of the Competition. Up 120% from the previous piano edition in 2014, CMIM 2017 received a total of 304 applications from 99 women and 205 men, with an average age of 25 years.

Toronto, November 10, 2016 – The Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) announces at the IAMA Toronto 2016 conference (International Artists’ Managers Association) its new positioning for future voice editions. Starting in 2018, the vocal competition will feature two divisions: Aria and Art Song. Eligible candidates will be able to compete in either or both divisions. The same amount of prizes, grants, and awards will be assigned to both divisions, resulting in a record amount of more than a quarter million Canadian dollars to be awarded to prizewinners.

Montréal, September 14, 2016 – The Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) is pleased to announce the addition of the Joseph-Rouleau Career Development Grant worth $50,000 to its roster of prizes for the next three editions: piano 2017, voice 2018, and violin 2019.  Funded by the Azrieli Foundation and managed by the CMIM, this grant will be awarded to the First Prize winner, who will also receive $30,000 in cash from the Ville de Montréal, bringing the total value of the First Prize to $80,000.
