Mezzo-soprano

Biography 2018: Originally from Quebec, mezzo-soprano Marie-Andrée Mathieu is a ten-time winner of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques scholarship. She won First prize in Quebec’s Concours d’Art Lyrique de la Relève Musicale.

Notably, she played Nicklausse in Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann with the Rimouski Opera. She became known in her role as Orpheus in Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice for the Relève Musicale de Québec and in the role of Junon in Charpentier’s Actéon with the Compagnie Baroque Mont-Royal in Montréal. She has also sung in Duruflé’s Requiem at the Notre-Dame de Québec Cathedral Basilica, with Airat Ichmouratov conducting.

She graduated with distinction with a Master’s degree in music performance from Laval University. She studied with soprano Patricia Fournier, with whom she continues to train.
