DIMITRI MALIGNAN

Born in Paris in 1998 into a music-loving family of Romanian origin, Dimitri Malignan began playing the piano at the age of 5. His mentors include Jean-Paul Sévilla, then Ludmila Berlinskaya, a disciple of Sviatoslav Richter, welcomed him to her class at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris “Alfred Cortot”. He obtained the Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste – Prix Cortot 2017, of which he is the youngest winner to date. From 2016, he continued his studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory, and in 2022, he was selected to join Benedetto Lupo’s class at the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome.

Winner of over twenty international competitions, in 2021 he won 3rd Prize, as well as the Audience Prize and the J.S. Bach Prize at the Concours Musical International de Montréal. Dimitri performs regularly in France and abroad on major stages: Salle Cortot and Salle Colonne (Paris), Saint Martin-in-the-Fields (London), Konzerthaus (Berlin), Merkin Concert Hall (New-York), Sala Casella (Rome), among others. He is also invited to prestigious festivals.

After recording his first CD in 2018 with works by Schumann and Prokofiev (Passavant Music), Dimitri Malignan released a new solo album entitled “J.S. Bach Pérégrinations” (Editions Hortus) in 2022. In 2024, he published two chamber music albums, one dedicated to Hungarian composer Pál Hermann (Toccata Classics) and the other entitled “Elegies and Echoes” (Sheva Collection) with soprano Elizaveta Agrafenina, featuring songs by little-known Eastern European composers of the 20th century.
