Montreal, March 17, 2020 – Following the Quebec Premier’s official announcement banning public gatherings of more than 250 people and, more recently, the announcement of the closing of Canadian borders in order to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) is obliged to postpone its 19th edition, scheduled for May 4 to 13, 2020.

24 of the world’s most promising violinists to compete in Montreal 

Montréal, January 22, 2019 — 24 of the world’s most promising young violinists—15 women and 9 men between the ages of 16 and 28, from 13 nations—have been selected to participate in the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) running from May 29 to June 5, 2019. The United States leads the selection with seven violinists, followed by Japan and South Korea with 5 violinists each. Germany is represented by two competitors and the following nations are each represented by one competitor: Austria, China, Czech Republic, France, Latvia, Russia, Spain, Taiwan and Ukraine.

20 singers from 12 nations advance to the Art Song and Aria semifinals 

Montreal, Friday, June 1st, 2018 – Between May 29 and 31, 38 singers from 20 nations participated in the First round of the Art Song and Aria divisions. The jury selected 8 semifinalists in the Art Song division and 12 semifinalists in the Aria division, representing together some 12 nations. Montreal, Monday, May 28, 2018 – This year, the CMIM (Concours musical international de Montréal) will be premiering the new format of its Voice editions, now consisting of two divisions: Aria (voice and orchestra) and Art Song (voice and piano). From May 29 to June 7, 2018, the CMIM will host 38 singers from 21 nations who will vie for prizes, grants, and awards valued at a record amount of $270,000 CAD and attributed by a jury of eminent specialists presided by the renowned Zarin Mehta.
