VIOLIN 2019 EDITION
Biography 2019: Ask Michiru Matsuyama what she would do if she weren’t a musician, she would tell you she can’t possibly think of anything else: music is her life. Born in Osaka, she began her studies at the age of 4 and all through her childhood and adolescence, she won many competitions, like the Osaka International Music Competition. She moved to Germany to pursue her studies. Her influences include her teacher, Kolja Blacher, with whom she studied at the Hanns Eisler Music School in Berlin: “her musicality and technique are exceptional.” She has been influenced by the book The Inner Game of Tennis: “It is a book about mental training. It translates really well to music, and I’ve been adapting it to my performance life.” Her favorite composer is Bach. She finds the inner logic of the music soothing to perform or listen.
