Biography 2018: Lauren Margison, soprano, was a 2017 George London finalist and prize winner and was the youngest finalist to appear in the Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg Singing Competition. 

She sang Micaela in Carmen (Brott Opera) and Marguerite in Faust (Highlands Opera Studio), as well as Fiordiligi in Così fan Tutte in August 2017. She has appeared in the Gala de Québec, as well as with the PRISMA Festival, as the soprano soloist in Strauss’s Four Last Songs. She sang Sœur Mathilde in Dialogues des Carmelites with Opéra de Montreal during her first season with the Atelier Lyrique. She returned for a second season in September, where she sang Clorinda in La Cenerentola with Opéra de Montreal, as well as Missia in La Veuve Joyeuse in 2018 as part of the Atelier Lyrique show. She continues her vocal training under the tutelage of Valerie Kuinka and Richard Margison.

Warmly praised for her sensitive musicianship, Janelle Fung was named “Artist of the Year” in 2014 by the BC Touring Council.  Her disc with violist Marina Thibeault, Toquade (ATMA Classique) was nominated for the prestigious ADISQ and Prix Opus in 2017.  Her interest in opera has led to concerts with Nicole Cabell, Teresa Stratas and William Warfield.  She has toured twice as Touring Artistic Director for opera productions presented by Jeunesses Musicales du Canada, and is the assistant conductor of the Highlands Opera Studio.  Ms. Fung is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and The Juilliard School and has made Montreal her home since 2008.
