A young violinist gives us her daily thoughts.

About May 9, 2013:

“Wow!!!  What a day!  Guess what? When I went to visit the Garage à Musique, I got to meet my idol violinist Maxim Vengerov! And play for him!!! Maxim played for the kids too and I was so pleased to see kids my age interested in classical music and learning about music.  In the Garage à Musique, they help kids who are underprivileged, to develop their artistic abilities and have a better education. When I saw Maxim, I was so moved that I started to cry and could not stop myself! I was crying of joy and excitement and amazement of his presence after all these years, since I was five I had been wanting to see him in person one day. So there he was and a very very happy me and very happy kids that I inspired. It was a wonderful visit. After that I went to hear the last contestant of the first round. After their performances, I went backstage to congratulate them all, take pictures of them and even give them an interview, as if I was the journalist!! I had a very interesting conversation with them. I asked them the same question; ”Do you like doing competition?” And they all said pretty much:  ”yes and no”. Most of them express that they do not really care for the results. They care more about how they play and I totally agree because when I go in competitions, I am in a competition with myself and I take it as a good experience to play, to have good comments, learn from it, learn from others who are playing and for the pleasure of making music! Now I look forward to hearing the second round!”
