Montreal, Thursday, October 18, 2012 — Vinum & Musica — The Montreal International Musical Competition’s (MIMC) annual benefit event, held its 7th edition last night at the prestigious Le Windsor, in Montréal. Kicked-off with a champagne cocktail, this outstanding evening was presented in collaboration with the SAQ, under the honorary presidency of Mr. Bernard Poulin, President and CEO of S.M. International Group. The Organizing Committee is chaired by Mr. Paul T. Kefalas, Grand maître de la Commanderie de Bordeaux in Canada.

The stars of the evening: over 50 great vintages available in several exceptional sizes: magnum, double magnum, jeroboam, imperial, Methuselah, Balthazar, Salmanazar and Melchior (18 L). In addition, thanks to the collaboration of prestigious partners, an exclusive visit to Bordeaux’s vineyards and a private tour of Coco Chanel’s Paris apartment, including a stay at the very select hotel Le Bristol Paris, beautifully completed the list of items on auction.

To add to all these pleasures, a tasting including Château Rauzan-Ségla’s and Château Canon’s wines was offered during the meal, enhanced with fine observations by sommelier Éric Thomassin. Participants also had the privilege of attending a wonderful performance by talented singer-songwriter and pianist Florence K.

Proceeds from Vinum & Musica will go to supporting the MIMC, an annual competition that seeks out the most promising young pianists, violinists and opera singers from all across the globe. The next edition of the Competition will see 24 of the world’s most talented up-and-coming violinists grace the Montreal stage from May 6 to 17, 2013, at the Bourgie Concert Hall and the Maison symphonique de Montréal. The MIMC is proud to count on the support of major partners such as Hydro-Québec, Radio-Canada and the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal.
