VIOLIN 2019 EDITION
Biography 2019: Considered one of the most promising violinists of her home country, Latvia, Elina Buksha studied at the Chapelle musical Reine Elisabeth de Belgique with Augustin Dumay from 2011 to 2017. She currently studies with Christophe Poppen at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. She describes herself as an introvert, and likes to express herself through music and violin. Her major influence is mentor Midori Goto and Christoph Poppen: “They are incredibly generous, and have a great capacity for humility and empathy.” She appreciates all sorts of different types of music: her favourite album is The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, and looks up to German baritone Dietrich Fischer Dieskau. If given the choice, she’d go on a roadtrip with Freddie Mercury, famous frontman of the band Queen, to take advantage of his energy and creativity. She performs on a Domenico Montagnana violin made in 1723.
