Roberto Mauro has been with the Canadian Opera Company for more than fifteen years and plays an integral role with the company as the Director of Artistic Planning.  He oversees the performance calendar, plans repertoire, negotiates contracts with performers, takes part in searching for conductors, and travels around the world to hear singers on many different operatic stages to cast for COC productions.  His portfolio also includes the COC Orchestra and Chorus as well as the young artist program, the COC Ensemble.

Roberto Mauro has previously held key positions in the administration of Michigan Opera Theatre, Arizona Opera, l’Opéra de Montréal, and Florida Grand Opera.

In addition to his other accomplishments, he has overseen the casting and production of important new works and has written supertitle translations for approximately 40 operas that have been seen on the stages of Michigan Opera Theatre, Cincinnati Opera, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, Florida Grand Opera, Florentine Opera, Opera Omaha, and Opera Ontario.

Roberto Mauro is a highly respected speaker and frequently gives presentations on composers, repertoire, and singers. An experienced adjudicator, he has served on the jury of various competitions including the Dallas Opera Vocal Competition, Ottavio Ziino Competition, Richard Tucker Foundation, Moniuszko Competition, and the Grand Finals of the Metropolitan Opera National Competition.
