Shaoheng began formal violin studies at the age of five and was soon admitted to the Guangzhou Tianhe Children’s Palace String Orchestra as principal violinist. “My parents always loved music and therefore sparked my interest in it.” At 12, he placed first in his entrance exams to the Middle School of the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, where he is currently a 10th-grade student under String Department Chair Xin Lin. Shaoheng is also a member of Wei Lu’s joint teaching studio.

Shaoheng first gained international recognition in 2019, when, at the age of ten, he became the youngest performer to win Second Prize in Category A during the third Zhuhai International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians. He went on to win First Prize of his category at the 15th edition of the Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition, as well as Second Prize and the Note di Talento prize — a special award for Best performance of the commissioned work by Stefano Delle Donne — at the inaugural Città di Cremona Competition, where he also was granted the opportunity to perform at the 2024 Stradivari Festival. He was then accepted into the prestigious Morningside Music Bridge program in Boston on a full scholarship (2024-2025).

In 2025, Shaoheng won Third Prize at the 7th International Jascha Heifetz Competition for Violinists, as well as Second Prize at the Hengqin International Mozart Competition for Young Musicians.
