Voice 2022 – Art Song Division
soprano
2022: Born in Finland and based in France, soprano Iida Antola brings her varied skills to this year’s Competition. Antola has unique experience as an interpreter of contemporary music, remarkably performing Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire both as a singer and conductor. She composes her own music, including settings of poetry by Finnish poet L. Onerva.
Antola is a frequent guest of the Finnish National Opera, singing everything from The Marriage of Figaro to The Phantom of the Opera. Also in her operatic wheelhouse are Micaëla in Carmen, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, and the title roles of Dido and Aeneas and The Coronation of Poppea.
