Amia Janicki

Amia Janicki
Austria/Switzerland
City of residence: Geneva

Age: 28

I began playing the violin at the age of 3. Music has therefore always been a part of my life. The violin is an extremely versatile instrument, able to produce infinite sounds and colours: I love the richness and diversity of its repertoire.

Amia Janicki studied with Tedi Papavrami and earned her Bachelor’s degree at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität in Vienna with Pavel Vernikov. From 2021 to 2025, she was an artist in residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels with Augustin Dumay and recently completed her soloist Master’s degree at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne under the guidance of Svetlana Makarova.

Passionate about interdisciplinary projects, Amia co-created L’Oiseau in 2023, a short film inspired by George Enescu’s Impressions d’enfance. “George Enescu inspires me deeply. He embodies the figure of the all-rounded artist: virtuoso violinist, composer, and pedagogue. Impressions d’enfance is a complex work, rich in contrasts, colours and imagination, very visual. It occupies a special place in my repertoire and has been with me for several years.” Amia has also explored the contemporary repertoire, premiering works at the Konzerthaus Vienna and the Théâtre royal de La Monnaie.

As a soloist, she has appeared with orchestras such as the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. She has also been invited to numerous festivals, including the Verbier Festival, Festival Ravel, Festival de Sion, Late Summer Music Festival Dubrovnik, and the Festival de La Roque d’Anthéron. The Concours 2026 marks her debut in North America.

In 2021, she won First Prize at the 12th International Violin Competition Václav Huml. She was also a finalist at the prestigious 13th International Jean Sibelius Violin Competition, where she received a special prize. Her first recording, featuring Enescu’s Octet, was released in 2023 on the Fuga Libera label.

Amia performs on a Niccolò Amati violin (1645), generously loaned by the Maggini Foundation with the support of LS Core.
