VIOLIN MAKERS IN ACTION – MMFA Glass Court
MAY 10 & 11, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
See a violin maker at work, discover the tools of the trade, learn to better understand the craftmanship behind the instrument. The public is encouraged to ask these fascinating artisans questions about their work.
EXHIBITION OF CONTEMPORARY VIOLIN AND BOW MAKERS – MMFA Lounge
SUNDAY, MAY 12 | 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Twenty professional violin and bow makers from across Canada will exhibit their instruments and bows. A unique opportunity to discover and hear the different sounds of the violin, viola, cello and double bass.
MASTERCLASS WITH RÉGIS PASQUIER – Bourgie Concert Hall at MMFA
SUNDAY, MAY 12 | 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Régis Pasquier, one of our international jury members, will offer a master class, which is open to the public and he will share his expertise with selected young violinists.

The MIMC plays a key role in the finest tradition of classical concert music. The Competition seeks to discover and support young singers, violinists, and pianists who have distinguished themselves as masters of their art. Since the very first edition, dedicated to voice in 2002, nearly 2,000 candidates have applied to take part in the various editions, and, of these, more than 300 were given the opportunity to perform in Montreal, to the great delight of music lovers. The MIMC is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, and of the Alink-Argerich Foundation.
