Montreal is where my career began, and the city will always hold a special place in my heart. The Concours, with its rigorous standards, is one of the most important launching pads for exceptional young artists on the international stage. In addition to regular appearances with every major orchestra in Canada, she has performed with symphony orchestras across the United States, as well as in London, Israel, and Brazil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">Angela Cheng has performed in numerous prestigious venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Mariinsky Concert Hall in St. Petersburg, and the Sydney Opera House. Festival appearances include Verbier, Edinburgh, Miyazaki, and the George Enescu Festival in Romania. She regularly appears in recital throughout North America, including festival performances at Banff, Chautauqua, Colorado, Great Lakes Chamber Music, Vancouver, Toronto, and Festival International de Lanaudi\u00e8re.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">An active chamber musician, Angela Cheng was a member of the Zukerman Trio and Chamber Players for nearly a decade, as well as performing as Pinchas Zukerman\u2019s collaborative pianist on many national and international tours. She continues to perform with her husband, pianist Alvin Chow, and with numerous ensembles and chamber societies, including the Tak\u00e1cs, Colorado, and Vogler quartets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">Angela Cheng has taught masterclasses at Toronto\u2019s Royal Conservatory of Music, Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts, Taiwan\u2019s Taichung University, Indiana University, Music Institute of Chicago, to name only a few. She has served on the jury of many competitions, including the Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition, Dallas International Piano Competition, Honens International Piano Competition, and the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, among others.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">In 1988 Angela Cheng was the first Canadian to win the Montreal International Music Competition, a former competition which existed in Montr\u00e9al from 1965 to 1991. Other awards include third prize at the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Masters Competition, and the Medal of Excellence for outstanding interpretations of Mozart from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">A native of Hong Kong, Angela Cheng studied with Menahem Pressler at Indiana University as well as Sascha Gorodnitzki at the Juilliard School.
