Biography 2019: Hao <\/span><\/span>Zhou studied at the Colburn Music Conservatory with Martin Beaver. <\/span><\/span>In 2015, he won the American String Teachers Association National Solo Competition and has distinguished himself at the Dorothy Chandler Spotlight Competition, the Downey Young Artists Concerto Competition, as well as the Edith Knox Performance\u00a0<\/span>Competiton<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>He\u00a0<\/span><\/span>is an active\u00a0<\/span><\/span>chamber orchestra musician and won\u00a0<\/span><\/span>T<\/span><\/span>hird prize at the 2018\u00a0<\/span>Wigmore<\/span>\u00a0Hall International String Quartet Competition<\/span><\/span>\u00a0with the Viano Quartet.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>On his downtime, Hao likes to read and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>study reverse engineering to understand how things are made and how they work. His favorite book, however, is a novel:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Life of Pi<\/span><\/span>\u00a0by Canadian author Yann Martel. \u201cIt\u2019s a unique and captivating story; it brings perspective and provokes thought.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span>He will be performing on a Carl Becker violin made in 1936.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
