Thomas Briant is a graduate of the Haute \u00c9cole de Musique de Lausanne in the class of Renaud Capu\u00e7on, and of the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Paris where he studied with St\u00e9phanie-Marie Degand and Jean-Marc Phillips-Varjab\u00e9dian. He has also worked closely with great masters such as Augustin Dumay, Vladimir Spivakov, Nemanja Radulovi\u0107, as well as with members of the Trio Wanderer and Quatuor \u00c9b\u00e8ne.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thomas first started taking violin lessons\u00a0at the age of\u00a0five.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cIt was a really inspiring discovery which soon transformed into a passion.\u201d Today, he is inspired by multiple performers, among them violinist Christian Ferras: \u201cI admire the intensity of his playing, his profound artistic sincerity and the poetry that resonates from his instrument.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A prizewinner of the Concours Appassionato Jo\u00ebl Kl\u00e9pal, of the Maurice Ravel Foundation, and of the Concours d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation musicale de Lausanne, Thomas has already established himself as a compelling soloist and chamber musician. Recent highlights include a performance of Brahms\u2019s Double Concerto<\/em> with Anne Gastinel at La Seine Musicale, collaborations with Kit Armstrong and Anneleen Lenaerts, and invitations to prestigious internships such as those of the Festival de P\u00e2ques d\u2019Aix-en-Provence, the George Enescu Festival, the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, and the Festival de La Roque d\u2019Anth\u00e9ron. The Concours 2026 marks Thomas\u2019s debut in North America.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An avid chamber musician, he is a founding member of the Trio\u00a0Zarathoustra, in residence at the Fondation Singer-Polignac, and performs regularly with\u00a0accordion\u00a0player\u00a0Julien\u00a0Beautemps, exploring new dialogues between classical and contemporary expression.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thomas\u00a0plays a 1735 Gagliano violin, generously loaned by\u00a0Roger\u00a0Zilber through the Talents &\u00a0Violon\u2019celles\u00a0endowment fund.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
