HOME - CONCOURS 2026<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Born in Budapest into a family of musicians, Vilmos Csikos grew up surrounded by music. \u201cSeeing my grandmother play the violin inspired me to begin studying it.\u201d Today, he studies <\/span>with Yuzuko Horigome, after having completed a master\u2019s degree in violin performance at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Yossif Ivanov as well as a master\u2019s degree in pedagogy at the Royal Conservatory of Mons.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At only 7 years old, Vilmos won his first music competition, the Didier Nowe Contest in Brussels. Since then, he has\u00a0participated\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0nearly\u00a0<\/span>40 national and international violin or <\/span>music competitions, winning first prizes at the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition (2007), the Leonid Kogan International Violin Competition (2017), or the Concours international de violon Henri Vieuxtemps (2020), among others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to having performed in more than a dozen European countries, Vilmos has had the <\/span>opportunity to perfect his technique alongside several great violin masters, including Pierre Amoyal, Augustin Dumay, Mihaela Martin,<\/span>\u00a0and Zakhar Bron. In 2025, he was selected to premiere the eighth violin concerto by Henri Vieuxtemps. <\/span>\u201cIt was an honour for me to perform the work of such an important <\/span>Belgian composer. Taking part in a world premiere is a very unique experience, since we get to bring a new work to life for the very first time.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vilmos has performed as a soloist with the\u00a0<\/span>Brussels Sinfonietta, the Budafok Dohn\u00e1nyi Orchestra, <\/span>the <\/span>Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Ataneres Flanders\u2019 string orchestra, under the baton of conductors such as Etienne Rappe, Dmitry Filatov, Nicolas Pasquet, and Junichi Hirokami. The Concours 2026 marks his debuts in North America.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vilmos plays\u00a0a\u00a0<\/span>Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin, generously on loan from the Tarisio Collection. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
