I find the greatest motivation in experiences that push me beyond my comfort zone toward growth. The preparation for this competition has been a<\/span>n exciting<\/span>\u00a0journey, and I hope that joy resonates through my music on stage.<\/span><\/span>\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/h3>\n

HOME - CONCOURS 2026<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Seoyeon Baik\u00a0started\u00a0studying\u00a0music\u00a0at\u00a0the age of\u00a0six.\u00a0\u201c<\/span>I began playing\u00a0the violin\u00a0after watching a close friend perform. Seeing her create such beautiful sounds deeply moved me and inspired a desire to explore my own musical voice.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0Seoyeon then\u00a0built\u00a0a strong foundation\u00a0at the Korea National Institute for the Gifted in Arts and Yewon School, and in 2023, she was admitted to the Korea National University of Arts\u00a0(<\/span>KNUA)<\/span>\u00a0at age 15.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Passionate\u00a0about\u00a0her instrument,\u00a0Seoyeon\u00a0mentions how the violin helps her\u00a0to\u00a0express herself.\u00a0\u201cTo me, the violin is the most direct and instinctive language. It allows me to communicate complex thoughts and emotions that transcend the limits of language. Sharing these intimate feelings with an audience through my playing is what I find most profoundly meaningful.\u201d\u00a0Her participation\u00a0in\u00a0the Concours marks her first performance in North America.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Seoyeon\u00a0received the Grand Prix at the Music Journal Competition and made her European debut in Leipzig\u00a0in 2020. She also\u00a0reached\u00a0the semifinal in the Johansen International Competition and Young Tchaikovsky Competition (2022).\u00a0In 2023, she became the youngest senior finalist at the\u00a0Ysa\u00ffe\u00a0International Music\u00a0Competition in\u00a0Belgium, and\u00a0later\u00a0competed in the Stuttgart International Competition (2024) and the\u00a0Isangyun\u00a0International Competition, receiving the\u00a0Seongywang\u00a0Park Special Prize for Young Talent.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Seoyeon has performed with the Seocho Philharmonic and LG Philharmonic orchestras and in recitals sponsored by the Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation. As concertmaster of the KNUA Orchestra and member of the Juvenis Quartet, she has gained valuable leadership and ensemble experience. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
