{"id":31953,"date":"2024-01-31T13:00:28","date_gmt":"2024-01-31T18:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/concoursmontreal.ca\/?post_type=cmim-competitors&#038;p=31953"},"modified":"2024-05-17T22:18:59","modified_gmt":"2024-05-18T02:18:59","slug":"saeyoon-chon","status":"publish","type":"cmim-competitors","link":"https:\/\/concoursmontreal.ca\/en\/competitors\/saeyoon-chon\/","title":{"rendered":"Saeyoon Chon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a class=\"maxbutton-138 maxbutton maxbutton-piano-2024-en\" href=\"https:\/\/www.concoursmontreal.ca\/en\/about-us\/archives\/piano-2024\/\"><span class='mb-text'>Piano 2024<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">South Korean pianist Saeyoon Chon won 1st prize at the 2018 Dublin International Piano Competition and has been a major prize winner at international piano competitions including Maria Canals, Vendome, Valencia, Hanoi, Los Angeles, Orford, Cooper, Isdor Basic, Seoul, and Hilton Head International Piano Competition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">He has performed at the Verbier Festival, where he received the prestigious Tabor Award for the best pianist in the soloist programs, and has also played in the Four Seasons, Orford, and Rockport Festivals. He will be joining the Ravinia Festival this summer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Chon made his New York debut at Carnegie Hall and has given solo recitals at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Seoul Arts Center in Seoul, Koerner Hall in Toronto, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Hong Kong City Hall, and many others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Chon first studied piano in his native South Korea with Hyoung-Joon Chang. He completed his Bachelor of Music degree on full scholarship at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, studying with John O\u2019Conor. He also completed the Artist Diploma at the Glenn Gould School. During this period, Chon became a recipient of the prestigious Ihnatowycz Prize.
