The Concours musical international de Montréal attracts a new generation of pianists.

The recent application campaign for the Concours musical international de Montréal has once again confirmed the organisation’s reputation and influence, as well as the quality of this event on the world stage. This fall, 376 young pianists from 42 countries applied to the Concours in the hope of taking part in the 25th edition.

A major rendez-vous

These numbers illustrate the appeal that Montréal holds for the international music scene. From all corners of the globe, young artists have devoted a great deal of energy to preparing their applications, notably by recording four professional videos. Taking part in the Concours is much more than simply entering a competition. It is an opportunity for these artists from around the world to measure themselves against their peers, to be heard by an enthusiastic live audience, and to be discovered by industry professionals. The quality of the event and the warm reception from its community are among the incentives that encourage artists to enter the Concours.

The prizes and grants awarded to the laureates are another major incentive. Beyond their financial value, these prizes offer young artists concrete means to pursue their training, fund their projects, and build their careers with greater visibility. We would like to thank our partners whose generosity makes it possible to offer attractive prizes, notably the Azrieli Foundation, Steinway & Sons, Québecor, Stingray Classica and many others.

An established international reputation

Since its beginning, the Concours has carved out a prominent place for itself amongst the world’s leading music competitions. Alternating between piano, violin and voice, it offers competitors an exceptional platform and springboard for their emerging careers.

The celebration of the Concours musical international de Montréal’s 25th edition highlights the organisation’s steadfastness and its commitment to young artists of the new generation. Today, the name of Montréal’s Concours is recognised in conservatories, concert halls, and talent agencies around the world.

The important work of the preliminary jury has already begun. The Concours looks forward to presenting the 25 pianists who will be invited to Montréal for the 25th edition on February 4, 2027. Stay tuned!
