Born in the Ural region of Russia (Siberia), Zakhar Bron began his musical training at Odessa, then at the Gnessin Conservatory of Moscow with Boris Goldstein, before pursuing his studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Igor Oistrakh. After garnering prizes at the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition of Poznan, Poland, and the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium, he played extensively throughout Europe, the former Soviet Union and Japan with major orchestras conducted by such eminent maestros as Mariss Jansons, Arnold Katz and Justus Franz. Recognized as an eminent music teacher, he has held positions at renowned institutions in Novosibirsk, London, Rotterdam, Lübeck, Madrid and Zurich. After settling in Köln in 1997, Mr. Bron divides his time between this city he calls home and the Spanish capital. He has given countless seminars and master classes all over the globe and has been praised time and time again for a teaching approach that is centred on the student and totally invested in the art. His students have included the likes of Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov and Natalia Prischepenko. Zakhar Bron has also made numerous recordings on CD and DVD, playing the classics of the repertoire.
