Born in Israel, Yoheved Kaplinsky first achieved international recognition when she won the J. S. Bach International Competition in Washington. Since then, she has given numerous concerts throughout the United States as a recitalist, chamber musician and soloist, most notably in New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Chicago.
Ms. Kaplinsky has taught at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and the Manhattan School of Music. Since 1993, she has been a professor at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where she currently heads the piano department. Renowned for her exceptional acuity and knowledge of pianistic technique, she gives numerous lectures and master classes throughout the United States, Israel and the Far East. Ms. Kaplinsky teaches regularly at various distinguished summer institutions and frequently sits on international juries, including for the Van Cliburn and Tchaikovsky competitions. In 2003 she was the recipient of the Presidential Scholars Teacher Recognition Award.
