One of Poland’s most eminent pianists and professors, Piotr Paleczny graduated from the Frédéric Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw.He won five international piano competitions beginning in 1968,but it was at the 8^th International Frédéric Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 1970 that he began to gain recognition on the international stage. Since then, he has enjoyed a career on all continents, appearing with orchestras such as the Chicago, American,Yomiuri Nippon, BBC London, and RAI Roma symphonies, and the Royal Philharmonic and Santa Cecilia orchestras at concert halls including Carnegie, Avery Fisher, and Alice Tully halls in New York, Orchestra Hall in Chicago, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires,Concertgebouw in Amsterdam,Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Festspielhaus in Salzburg, Royal Festival Hall in London, and Tonhalle in Zurich. He also sits on the juries of international piano competitions in Warsaw,Paris,Leeds,Tel Aviv,Santander,Tokyo, Hamamatsu, Dublin, Salt Lake City, Cleveland, London, Geneva, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and Moscow (Tchaikovsky),among others.Music by Polish composers forms a significant part of his repertoire, and his recordings of these works, one of which achieved Platinum status, have won acclaim. He is also the Artistic Director of the oldest existing piano festival in the world, the International Chopin Festival in DusznikiZdrój, and of the International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz.
