Zilberstein

Since winning First Prize in the 1987 Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition, Lilya Zilberstein has established herself as one of the finest pianists in the world, and has played with the most prominent orchestras in North America, Europe, and Asia. A captivating recitalist, she also regularly appears in music centres throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. A sought-after collaborator, she has been performing duos with Martha Argerich for many years, and a CD of their interpretation of the Brahms Sonata for Two Pianos was released in 2003. The ​“Progetto Martha Argerich” Festival in Lugano resulted in additional releases on EMI. Recent collaborations include extensive tours with Russian violinist Maxim Vengerov. Their performance of the Brahms Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano was nominated for a Grammy for best classical album, as well as for best chamber music performance. She has also made numerous recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, including the Rachmaninoff Concertos Nos. 2 and 3 with Claudio Abbado and the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Grieg Concerto with Neeme Järvi and the Göteborgs Symfoniker. A native of Moscow, Lilya Zilberstein is a graduate of the Gnessin Academy of Music. She moved to Hamburg in 1990. Since 2009, she is Professor at Hamburg University of Music and Theatre.
