Gérard Poulet, son of noted violinist and conductor Gaston Poulet, entered the Paris Conservatory at the age of 11, where he graduated at the top of his class with unanimous recognition of the jury the following year. At the age of 18, he was awarded the Grand Prize at the International Violin Competition Premio Paganini of Genoa. After studying further with such great musicians as Zino Francescatti, Yehudi Menuhin, Nathan Milstein and especially Henryk Szeryng, whom he considers his spiritual father, Gérard Poulet went on to give many concerts and develop his international career. Taking part in the most prestigious festivals, he has performed on every continent with some of the foremost orchestras, among them the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, RAI Orchestra of Turin, Prague Radio Symphony, Orchestre philharmonique de Liège, Beijing Symphony Orchestra and the Stuttgart Kammerorchester. Gérard Poulet is also recognized as a great educator. Professor at Tokyo University, he also gives numerous master classes all over the world. His recordings have earned him awards from the Académie Charles Cros and Diapason magazine.
