Vdovin

As the Founder and Artistic Director of the Bolshoi Theatre Young Artist Program since 2009, baritone Dmitry Vdovin has hosted winners of international competitions, as well as members of internationally renowned opera companies. He regularly serves as a jury member at such competitions as the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Glinka International Vocal Contest, and the Bella Voce Competition. In 1992, Mr. Vdovin became the Artistic Director of the Moscow Centre for Music and Theatre, an artistic agency that coordinates interaction between Russian and international opera companies and concert organizations. In 2000, he also became the Artistic Director and a teacher at Moscow’s International School of Vocal Art. Mr. Vdovin studied at the Moscow State Institute of Theatrical Arts (now called the Russian Aca demy of Theatrical Arts), and followed with post-graduate studies as an opera critic. He was also trained as a vocal teacher at the European Centre for Opera and Vocal Art (ECOV) in Brussels. He has taught singing at the Gnesin Academy of Music (he was head of the vocal department from 2000 to 2005) and at the Sveshnikov State Academy of Choral Art. He has also given master classes in Russia, the United States, Belgium, and Mexico.
