One of today’s most experienced and versatile mu sicians, American pianist Benjamin Pasternack has performed as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician on four continents. His orchestral engagements have included appea rances as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Pacific Symphony, the New Jersey Symphony, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, the Orchestre National de France, the New Japan Philharmonic, the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR, the Bamberger Symphoniker, and the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. He has appeared as a guest artist at the Tanglewood Music Center, the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, the Seattle Chamber Music Festival, the Min nesota Orchestra Sommerfest, the Festival de Música dos Capuchos in Portugal, and the Festival de Menton in France. A native of Philadelphia, Benjamin Pasternack entered the Curtis Institute of Music at the age of thirteen, studying with Mieczyslaw Horszowski and Rudolf Serkin. In 1988, he won the highest prize awarded at the 40th Ferruccio Busoni Competition, followed the next year by the Grand Prize at the inaugural Monte-Carlo World Music Masters Piano Competition. After fourteen years on the piano faculty of Boston University, he joined the piano faculty of the Peabody Conservatory of Music (Bal timore) in September 1997.
