Canadian pianist André Laplante has firmly established himself as one of the great romantic virtuosos of his generation. Prize winner of numerous international piano competitions, including the Geneva and Sydney competitions and the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, he has performed to the highest critical acclaim on the major music stages of Europe, North America and Asia.
During recent seasons, he has played with renowned orchestras and conducted a major tour of the People’s Republic of China. He has given recitals in the Far East, Australia and North America and taken part in many major international festivals. André Laplante has sat as a member of the jury of the International Tchaikovsky Competition, the Australian International Music Festival, the CBC/ Radio-Canada National Competition for Young Performers and the William Kapell International Piano Competition. An active recording artist, André Laplante’s releases include critically-acclaimed performances of works by Liszt (Juno Award, 1995), Brahms (Felix Award, 1996), Ravel, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov. He is currently Artist in Residence at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto.
