André
De Groote

Widely renowned for his interpretation of the piano works of Beethoven and Brahms, André De Groote is one of the most important and esteemed performers and teachers on the world music scene. After distinguished studies with Brigitte Wild and Eduardo del Pueyo, he was awarded the Harriet Cohen Medal in London and First Prize at the International Spanish Music Competition in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. He is also a laureate of the prestigious International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition in Brussels, and the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Currently a visiting professor of piano at Indiana University in Bloomington, André De Groote previously taught at Arizona State University in Phoenix and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. His repertoire includes some fifty concertos, which he has performed with such renowned conductors as Neeme Järvi, Christoph Eschenbach, and Igor Markevitch. His chamber music activities include collaborations with the Via Nova Quartet, the Vega String Quartet, violinist Augustin Dumay, and cellist Viviane Spanoghe.André De Groote’s discography includes the concertos by Arthur de Greef and Charles Camilleri, works by Francis Poulenc and Jean Françaix, Brahms’s entire output for solo piano, Erich Korngold’s three sonatas, and all of Beethoven’s piano sonatas.
