Internationally acclaimed pianist and pedagogue Jean Desmarais earned his Masters and First prizes in Piano and Chamber Music at the Conservatoires de musique de Hull and de Montréal. He has been a guest soloist of various orchestras including the National Arts Centre Orchestra (Ottawa), Philharmonic Orchestra of Brasov (Romania), Philharmonic Orchestra of Stettin (Poland), Les Violons du Roy (Québec), and I Musici of Montréal. He has collaborated with renowned artists such as Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Amanda Forsyth, Ben Heppner, and Pinchas Zukerman. Mr. Desmarais has been a guest coach at the Canadian Opera Company and guest professor at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and Ottawa University. Mr. Desmarais received the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Canada for his remarkable contribution to the arts in Canada and abroad.
