Daniel Lipton is widely regarded as one of today’s most exciting and creative conductors, having received inter national acclaim for superb performances of operatic and orchestral repertoire.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of perestroika, he was invited to conduct the opening concert of Moscow’s First International Opera Festival in 2005. He was conductor of the Zurich Opera for 3 years and has conducted at the Royal Concertgebouw, Amsterdam; La Fenice, Venice; Teatro Regio, Parma; Teatro Comunale, Florence and Bologna; Teatro Real, Madrid; the Paris Opera and Le Chatelet; Nice Opera; Philharmonia and Sadler’s Wells, London; Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich; Staatsoper Hamburg, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Nuremberg, and Wiesbaden. He has been a guest conductor at the Deutsche Oper Berlin for 10 years;and was chosen to conduct the world première of G.C.Menotti’s Giorno da Nozze
Daniel Lipton was recently appointed Artistic Director of the European Classic Festival (Triennale) and the EurOrchester in Germany. One of Europe’s leading opera magazines, Switzerland’s Opernwelt,has awarded him “best conductor of the year” for two consecutive years, and the London magazine Opera voted him “best conductor ofVerdi.”Mr.Lipton had the honour of being asked to conduct Tosca in Prague on the 100th anniversary of its première.
In Canada Mr. Lipton has conducted the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, the Montréal Symphony, and numerous productions for Opera Ontario.With the latter he was appointed artistic director in 1986 and has made it into one of the most important opera companies in Canada. Last October he conducted La Bohème for Opéra de Québec.
