Yossif Ivanov received his first violin lessons at the age of five. Six months later, he was playing solo with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders. From the ages of eight to eleven he studied with Zakhar Bron and attended lessons with Igor Oistrakh. He has won prizes at the Herman Krebbers Competition in Maastricht, Holland, the Charles de Bériot Competition in Brussels, Belgium, the Wieniawski Competition in Lublin, Poland, and the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition in Paris, France. He has performed in Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Italy as well as at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Since October of 2001 he has been studying with Igor and Valery Oistrakh.
