Oleg Kaskiv began to study violin with his parents at the age of six. He continued his musical training at the Special Music School in Lviv, then at the Conservatory there. Since 1996, he has been studying with Alberto Lysy in Switzerland at the Yehudi Menuhin International Academy. He performs regularly both in recital and with orchestras as well as with the Camerata Lysy Gstaad. He won first prize at the Molinari Competition in Switzerland in 1998, fifth prize at the Rodolfo Lipizer Competition in Gorizia, Italy in 1999, and was a finalist at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition of Belgium in 2001.
