Fortin

Matthieu Fortin had his first lessons at the Atelier de musique in Jonquière, followed by study at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Chicoutimi, where he was a student of Marcel-Serge Guillemette and Jacinthe Couture. He received his bachelor’s degree in 2002 as well as the prize from the Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec for academic merit and social achievement. He won first prize in 2001 at the Canadian Music Competition and in 2003 at the Festival de musique du Royaume. He is currently working on his doctorate in performance at the Université de Montréal, where he studies with Marc Durand and Paul Stewart.
