Jean-Sébastien Roy began his violin studies at a very early age, working with Father Roland Brunelle, then going on to study with Johanne Arel at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal from 1990 to 2001. He has won prizes and grants from the Canadian Music Competition, from the Cercle des Cent Associés, from the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières and the Festival de musique du Royaume. In 2002 Jean-Sébastien Roy attended the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. He is presently a student of Claude Richard at the Université de Montréal.
