Two years after having started violin classes, Coco Tomita was awarded a scholarship to the Yehudi Menuhin School at the age of 6, where she studied with Natasha Boyarsky. “Right now, I am obsessed with Brahms, particularly his piano and string quartets,” she confides. “His works are so complex, I feel like I’m on an emotional rollercoasters when I listen to them – in a positive way.” Coco was the youngest candidate at the Menuhin Competition in Genoa in 2016 and has participated in many competitions. In 2017, she won the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition. She confesses that sometimes she hesitates to make decisions but she enjoys challenges. It is no coincidence that her motto is: “always do what you are afraid to do.”
