Born in Moscow, mezzo-soprano Alexandra Yangel started taking violin lessons at the age of 5 with Galina Turchaninova. In 2011, she graduated with honours in violin at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. At the age of 19, she started taking vocal lessons with Irina Dolzhenko at the Bolshoi Theatre. She entered the Gnessin Russian Aca demy of Music (Moscow) in 2012, then, in 2013, the Konservato rium Wien Privatuniversität, where she stu died with Elena Filipova and where she is currently completing a Master’s in Lied and Oratorio. Alexan dra was a prize winner of the 2016 Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg International Competition (Ger many). She earned a Novomatic scholarship from the Wiener Staatsoper and is a member of its ensemble.
