This season, Laureano Quant makes his European debut as Bill in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny with Staatsoper Stuttgart and sings El Payador in María de Buenos Aires with Madison Opera. He sings his first performances of Schaunard in La bohème this summer, as a Vocal Fellow with the Ravinia Festival.
As a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center, Laureano sang Le Dancaïre in Carmen, Comte de Lerma in Don Carlos, and Stařek in Jenůfa. Additional roles include Betto in Gianni Schicchi with Ópera de Colombia, as well as Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Prince Ragonsky in Candide with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotà. Alongside the same orchestra in his native country, he has sung Fauré’s Requiem and Bacalov’s Missa Tango, and Mozart’s Requiem with the Festival de Música Sacra de Popayán.
Laureano Quant obtained a Master of Musical Arts from Yale and a Master of Music from the Manhattan School of Music. He received further training at the Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera and SongStudio at Carnegie Hall. He obtained a Bachelor of Music, from Pontifica Universidad Javeriana with a double-major in vocal performance and composition.
