Born in Seoul, Deawon Kim has appeared on numerous prestigious stages, including Sejong Center Chamber Hall in Seoul, Antonio Vivaldi Saal in Wien, Kulturhaus in Aue, Konzerthaus Liebfrauen in Wernigerode, Die Synagoge in Görlitz, and Coselpalais and Frauenkirche in Dresden. As a soloist, he has performed with orchestras, including Philharmonische Kammerorchester Wernigerode, Dresden Sinfonietta, and Erzgebirgische Philharmonie Aue.

He won the Grand-Prix at The Journal of Music Concours, 1st prize at Seoul Philharmonic Music Competition and 1st prize at the International Piano Competition Begegnungen “Romantik” of C. Bechstein Centrum Dresden.

Deawon began to study piano at the age of 13, taught by his aunt, Sunjoo Yeom. Deawon earned a BM from the Kyung Hee University in Seoul. Subsequently, he moved to Germany, graduating with a MM from the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden, where he studied with Detlef Kaiser. He has participated in masterclasses given by renowned pianists such as Peter Rösel, Choong-Mo Kang, Sontraud Speidel, Bernd Goetzke, William Fong and Markus Groh. Currently, Deawon studies with Hinrich Alpers at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber Dresden as a Meisterklasse student where he is the recipient of a DAAD-STIBET scholarship program.
