A Premier Competition in Montréal
The Concours musical international de Montréal stands among the world’s foremost classical music competitions. Since 2002, it has welcomed, in turn, the best singers, violinists, and pianists of the new generation.
Montréal’s major competition was founded in 2001 by politician and arts patron André Bourbeau and celebrated operatic bass Joseph Rouleau, with the aim of offering an exceptional showcase for young classical artists.
The Concours is woven into Québec and Montréal’s vibrant artistic ecosystem and stands as a key event on the city’s cultural calendar, championing the cultural richness, openness to the world, and unique warmth that define Montréal. Through its activities and its impact, the Concours celebrates virtuosity while contributing to the dynamism of cultural life in Québec.
By taking part in the Concours, young musicians measure themselves against their peers by performing before a jury of international luminaries. This platform offers invaluable professional opportunities, allowing laureates to go on to perform on the world’s most prestigious stages.
The Concours draws its vitality from an entire community, bringing together prestigious partners, host families, numerous volunteers, and loyal donors who ensure the organization’s dynamism and longevity.
Piano
2027The Piano edition offers a prestigious platform for exceptional pianists who combine intensity and finesse, youth and musical maturity. With this event, the Concours captivates music lovers and elevates artists destined to make their mark on the international music scene.
The Concours gave me much more than a first prize: just after the competition I received so many invitations for concerts, I had the opportunity of recording my first CD and, the most important, I got the chance to meet a person in the jury that really changed my life. The Montréal Competition made my dream of being a pianist come true.
Thank you so much for all your care and dedication throughout the competition. It was an immense privilege for me to participate, and I look forward to seeing you again next time I am fortunate enough to return to Montréal.
