Since 2010, the MIMC offers many free activities aside from the
official competition. These activities change from year to year
and are announced a few weeks prior to the event, in May.
This year, several activities are also being held, free of
charge and open to one and all. These activities will take place
from May 7 to 12 at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA).
VIOLIN MAKERS IN ACTION - MMFA
MAY 8 & 9, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. | MAY 10 & 11, 1 p.m. to 3
p.m.
See a violin maker at work, discover the tools of the trade,
learn to better understand the craftmanship behind the
instrument. The public is encouraged to ask these fascinating
artisans questions about their work.
EXHIBITION OF QUEBEC CONTEMPORARY VIOLIN AND BOW MAKERS -
MMFA
SUNDAY, MAY 12 | 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Fifteen professional violin and bow makers from across Canada
will exhibit their instruments and bows. A unique opportunity to
discover and hear the different sounds of the violin, viola,
cello and double bass.

MASTERCLASS – Bourgie Concert Hall at MMFA
SUNDAY, MAY 12 | 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Régis Pasquier, one of our international jury members, will
offer a master class, which is open to the public and he will
share his expertise with selected young violinists.
